Age Of Empires II: The Age Of Kings & The Conquerors Expansion Pack |
There’s authenticity to everything about this game, starting with the ability to play specific campaigns throughout history. You can fight as Joan of Arc, Genghis Khan, Barbarosa, or Saladin, and beginners will want to check out the William Wallace Learning Campaign. The clearly defined goals for each campaign lead you closer to eventual campaign victory but also into more and difficult skirmishes. The attention to detail and the theory of societal evolution are significant in this game. specific structures or reached a specific age, and units themselves can evolve and become stronger. Once you construct your unit, there are many specific things you can do with them, including setting them up to guard or patrol specific areas and garrisoning them into buildings. You can also set aggression levels such as defensive, offensive, and don’t move. The Conquerors expansion (http://www.microsoft.com/games/conquerors) adds several new civilizations, units, and technologies and lets you fight celebrated conquerors such as Attila the Hun, El Cid, and Montezuma. A word of warning on the difficulty level: Start out in the Easy position. The AI (artificial intelligence) in this game kicks some serious post-Roman hide, and you don’t have to hear “We’ll buy Joan by the river” too many times to start searching out the lowest difficulty setting you can find. by Rich Gray
